" Create something related to your latest guided reading book."
This week, students responded to the maker prompt above. The prompt was open-ended, allowing for student creativity and direction. When they finished, students were asked to write a blurb that described how their creation related to their guided reading book. It was a fun way for students to reflect on their guided reading books while working on writing standards at the same time. Projects were based on: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, Help! I'm trapped in my Principal's Body by Todd Strasser, Micro Monsters by Christopher Maynard, and Volcanoes by Catherine Chambers.
