Fourth graders enjoyed an action-packed week! With the guidance of Mrs. Owney, they did a spectacular job in their winter concert on Tuesday morning and evening. On Thursday, students had the opportunity to Skype with a real astronomer who lives and works in Chile. He was able to answer many existing questions that students had about our solar system, galaxy, and universe. On Friday, students enjoyed a holiday themed performance by the Burly Middle School jazz band.
Additionally, students spent time coding this week as part of the "hour of code" initiative sweeping across educational institutions throughout the country. Several students have started their own coding projects using the computer application, "Scratch." If you're not familiar with coding, you can learn more about it and try it here.
