" Collect and document as many patterns as you can find. You may decide to use patterns found in nature, human made patterns, or both. Make something out of the patterns you find."
This week, students responded to the school-wide maker prompt quoted above. It was amazing to see what students developed. In our class, we had students create animal patterns relating to our ongoing study of ecosystems, a variety of zentangles, and patterns that represented fashion and other art forms.
Additionally, students picked a topic for their First Quarter Writer's Tea project. Students were asked to pick a question about an animal or plant that they can research. In the upcoming weeks, students will be researching for the answer to this question. They will also look for other interesting facts about their topic. When all their research is done, students will create an informative paragraph that will be combined with a portrait of their plant or animal.
